Abstract :
A tutorial explanation of H/sup infinity // mu -synthesis is presented. The particular approach to H/sup infinity // mu -synthesis used for control of a flexible structure experimental facility is explained. Some of the computational issues involved in implementation of H/sup infinity // mu -synthesis are included in the discussion, which is illustrated throughout by examples from the facility. The type of models that can be used for controller design for structures is discussed.<>
