Abstract :
The author presents an architecture suited to a distribution management system (DMS) and a conforming DMS design which uses a model of the distribution plant as the centerpiece to achieve dual goals of integration and openness. The modeling technique presented draws heavily on object-oriented technology. In this architecture the power system is considered as a really big object. Certain attributes are formalized, which distinguishes such BigObjects from other objects which might be used in the implementation of a system using the architecture which called big object modeling (BOM). BOM is a system architecture defining the high-level relationship between BigObjects and applications. It creates a specialized application programming interface, where modeling is distinguished from other applications. The architecture is presented by discussing its essential qualities
