Abstract
Independent software vendors are looking to increase profitability with better software portability. At present vendors can distribute a single, ready compiled (shrink-wrapped) version of an application, confident that it will run on any true PC-compatible from any manufacturer. The use of a compiler intermediate language called TDF should help towards the goal of shrink-wrapped software in the heterogeneous computing environments that lie beyond the PC
