Abstract :
We studied the spatial frequency response of a multilayer-coated tip for magnetic force microscopy both theoretically and experimentally. The tip coating is a multilayer structure, with two ferromagnetic layers coupled in antiparallel via an ultrathin nonmagnetic layer. We simulated the magnetic response of this kind of tip for longitudinal magnetic transitions. The results showed that the multilayer tip has a higher resolution than a single-layer tip.
