Abstract :
Faster write signal rise-times and the introduction of recording head technologies that are more susceptible to electrical overstress damage have made crosstalk an issue of concern in rigid disk drives. Crosstalk reduction efforts often focus on the physical routing of the suspension interconnect, but there are system-level practices that can have profound impacts on reducing crosstalk. This paper discusses a time-domain crosstalk measurement method, the effect of common impedance coupling at the system level, a conceptual model for estimating crosstalk, suspension interconnect crosstalk reduction techniques, and the effectiveness of the reduction techniques.
