General least-squares program for fitting functions to data

A program is described which attempts to fit any function specified in a procedure, to a set of data. The values of a fixed number of disposable constants are systematically adjusted to minimise the sum of squares of differences between values and corresponding points of the function. An example is given of the use of the program in the analysis of an experimental autocorrelation function.
