Abstract
Precise knowledge of the capacitance of interconnection lines to the ground plane is very important for the design of microelectronic circuits. The capacitance per unit length of a single line above a ground plane is calculated exactly by solving Laplace´s equation. The solution corresponds to a Fourier series, therefore it has to be calculated numerically for every size of the wire. The calculation results are described by a new approximation formula that improves previous solutions
