Abstract :
That was one question begging an answer from six papers presented at the recently held London conference concerning the Japanese production control system KANBAN. Whether or not it was answered is open to debate, as Rory Baxter discovered, but it is still worth nothing the main elements of the system and seeing if there are lessons to be learned from it.
