Abstract :
10 GHz operation of a phase-locked loop is demonstrated with a travelling-wave type laser-diode optical amplifier. The phase difference between optical signal pulses and an optical clock is detected by the optical gain modulation in the optical amplifier. The timing clock is extracted from randomly modulated 10 Gbit/s optical signal pulses.
