Abstract :
Measurement using air gauges is simple, accurate, and cheap. Before the actual measurement, some adjustments must be made. However, adjustments may lead to uncertainty as to how this will affect further measurements. Nowadays, new pneumatic devices equipped with piezoresistive pressure sensors are highly sensitive to changes in pressure in the measuring chamber. The flowthrough phenomena cause fluctuations in the measuring pressure and have an influence on the indication of length measurement. If not recognized and dealt with properly, such fluctuations may affect the results of the measurement, particularly the very adjustment of the air gauge. In this paper, some research results are presented and discussed, and some recommendations are given to reduce the uncertainty of adjustment and further measurement.
