Abstract :
Japan´s Ministry of International Trade and Industry´s (MITI´s) Superspeed project, which investigated high-speed devices and computer architecture, algorithms, and languages for parallel computing, is reviewed. The supercomputing industries in Japan and the United States are compared. The architecture and performance of current supercomputers and the current states of supercomputer technology and supercomputer software are discussed.<>
