Abstract :
Perhaps because of its popularity and ease of use, BASIC tends to be looked down on by many programmers. Computer scientists condemn its lack of structure and accuse it of cultivating bad programming habits. It has the image of a language for schools, nonprogrammers and hobbyists. Here, the author details how, however, its market position believes this impression: Microsoft has just launched two new versions aimed firmly at developers of real commercial software. Many professional programmers use BASIC in an enormous range of applications-sometimes as a second language, but often for writing final code
