Abstract :
A fast calculation method for the diversity gain in correlated Rician-fading channels is introduced. It is based on an analytical formula for the cumulative distribution function of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and a root-searching algorithm. It is shown that the calculation time for the diversity gain can be drastically shortened compared with that using the Monte Carlo simulation method and is only slightly dependent on the number of antenna elements. This method can handle any number of antennas with any signal correlation, antenna gain, antenna separation, and line-of-sight (LOS) signal angle. A practical numerical example is presented to demonstrate the method
