  • Abstract
It is argued that regional holding companies have a great deal to contribute, both in terms of experience and expertise, to the development of a worldwide communications network. The most effective way for regional firms to participate in building this worldwide network is through partnering with others, building interrelationships that benefit all parties involved and that realistically balance competitive rewards with consideration and respect for national sovereignty. Cultural, political, social, and economic differences should not be regarded as impediments to multinational business ventures. The issues involved in developing worldwide communication networks and the benefits to regional companies, their partners, and their customers from developing such networks are discussed.<>
