When Link 51´s plastics division decided to concentrate less on in-house production and more on contract work, it realised it would need the flexibility to adapt to change and the ability to produce components `right first time¿¿. To this end, the firm is operating on a just-in-time basis, which has meant a move to flexible manufacturing methods, as Rory Baxter reports.
