Abstract :
High voltage engineering research interactions between the electric utility industry and the universities are discussed in the context of the objectives and priorities of both parties. The particular strengths of university research are outlined and illustrated by discussions of successful past projects. Technical areas likely to be of major industry concern in the future, and amenable to future research, are outlined.
