How can manufacturers in this country begin to compete with their Japanese competitors on equal terms? One way, according to Professor John Burbidge FIProdE, is to reduce drastically the amount of stock lying around in British factories. Here, he outlines the methods of stock reduction he sees as being most appropriate.
