Abstract :
Two optical detection systems used to obtain Raman spectra from impregnant samples and cathode surfaces are discussed. The advantages of each system are described and their use for cathode diagnostics is explored. The Raman spectra from various impregnant samples are given and preliminary data from cathodes at 10-9 torr and at temperatures as high as 860°C are presented
