Abstract :
Some people have RFID chips implanted in their hands so they can open their doors by waving at them. A US-based company, VeriChip Corporation, is the main driving force behind this application. Called the VeriChip, each device comes in the shape of a glass capsule containing a microchip and a copper coil that works as antenna. The chip is injected with a needle just under the skin in the triceps area of the right arm. The medical reasons why anybody would want to be implanted with one of these chips are purely preventive. Other applications of RFID chips are discussed in this paper
