Abstract :
A simple confocal microscope design based on a single hollow-core fibre approach has been developed and experimentally analysed. Key optical components are the use of a hollow-core photonic bandgap fibre and a holed-mirror beam-splitter, both of which provide significant reduction of Fresnel back-reflections at the fibre tips and total background level resulting in increased resolving confocal laser power.
