Abstract :
Residential load control is used by many power suppliers to reduce peak load or system costs. This paper describes an integrated system for residential load control that has been developed for the Central Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. (Central) in South Carolina. This system has a number of features which, when combined, gives Central tremendous capability in developing, evaluating and implementing load control. These features include (1) a Load Forecasting Program to forecast the load assuming no load control, (2) a Controllable Load Forecast Program which estimates the current and future controllable load, and (3) a Load Management Scheduling Program for determining optimized schedules for load control. This system is planned to be operational by June 1986.
