  • Abstract
    We demonstrate the error-free transmission of quadrature-phase-shift keying (QPSK) and M-quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) signals simultaneously modulated onto 1- and 38-GHz carriers using a dispersion-tolerant optical modulation scheme. Measurements of error-free transmission of 155-Mb/s 128-QAM signals at 1 GHz over 50 km of standard single-mode fiber and 54-Mb/s QPSK signals at 38 GHz over the same fiber span and a 2-m radio link are reported. The results show that the modulation scheme can be used in control stations that feed multiservice access nodes regardless of the access type (wireline or wireless).
