Abstract :
The paper is concerned with the application of a canonical state-variable model of a given largescale system for obtaining convenient solutions of the state-estimation problem. It is shown first that computational simplification can be achieved if this canonical form is employed for developing the Chandrasekhar-type algorithm. It is also shown that a stable decentralised estimator can easily be obtained on the basis of the canonical model. The results are illustrated by considering the estimation problem of a two-area power system.
