Abstract :
Power engineering education is troubled. Student enrollments are decreasing and fewer power faculty members are available for teaching. Greater interaction between electric utilities -- on an individual and industry basis -- and universities is needed. A two-part disciplined plan is proposed to help improve the utility image, provide additional power research support and faculty for universities, and enhance university power engineering curricula.
