Abstract
This paper describes a model for the economic operation of primary distribution networks fed from several substations, where the energy purchase prices are different. Several aspects involved in the model formulation are discussed. An example is shown to illustrate the difference between a network operation based on a minimum loss criterion and the operation based on a minimum energy cost criterion.
