Abstract
A reduced-order implicit adaptive observer for a single-input single-output time-invariant nth-order linear system is considered. A state vector described in observable canonical form is explicitly parameterised in terms of the unknown system parameters and the filtered input and output vectors. For parameter estimation, a least-square-type adaptation scheme that can afford an arbitrarily fast exponential convergence is proposed.
