Abstract
The authors present their academic experience of teaching the application of finite element methods to electrical machines. This experience began many years ago when the Laboratoire d´Electrotechnique de Grenoble started a research program that led to the development of FLUX2D, a 2D finite element software package now commercially available. The teaching of theoretical and practical finite element methods with the use of FLUX2D is discussed
