Abstract :
A dual-polarized, broadband antenna made up of two single-polarized dipoles is presented. The antenna is mounted on a ground plane to produce a low-profile structure. Two fractal-like elements are used, but a very wide bandwidth is only achieved by making adjustments to the shape to reduce the coupling between the two polarizations. The resulting improved element exhibits an input return loss better than -10 dB over a 1:3.5 band. The isolation is better than about -30 dB, and the radiation characteristics are satisfactory within the bandwidth.
