An overview of the advocacy structure of IEEE-USA is presented. Some of its activities, including developing position papers on technology policy issues, conducting workshops, conferences, and briefings, issuing written comments to federal agencies on budgetary and regulatory issues, testifying before Congress and other regulatory bodies, conducting press briefings, and interacting with Washington policy officials, are discussed. A few examples of its activities in the areas of federal R&D funding, high-performance computing, an open-architecture modular approach for the design of high-resolution video systems, and electromagnetic fields are presented.<>
