Abstract :
This paper presents examples of the effective channel profiles which result from sliding scale averaging in an R-2R converter. Expressions are developed which describe the shapes of the effective channel profiles since the moments of these profiles affect the shape of a digitized distribution. The digitization of a Gaussian distribution by a sliding scale converter is also considered. Expressions are derived for the centroid and the second and third moments of a sliding scale digitized Gaussian distribution. These results are then corroborated with a computer simulation of a sliding scale converter.
