Abstract :
A numerical model of the X-ray deposition region is described in which the primary emission electrons are modeled by cloud-in-cell macroparticle techniques while the secondary air ionization electron currents are modeled by a set of fluid equations which include transport effects. Comparisons are made between model predictions and experimental data taken from the literature and are shown to be in reasonable agreement. The effect of removing the transport terms in the secondary electron fluid equations is demonstrated and the need for better experimental verification is discussed.
