Abstract :
The design of dual reflector antennas has been simplified by a method of deriving the secondary reflector from any prescribed main reflector for quite general focusing conditions. Consequently, main reflectors which are constructed from a series of generic curves can be considered, and they and their associated subreflectors optimised to satisfy a given second condition by numerical methods. This is illustrated for antennas obeying the Abb¿¿ sine condition or giving a prescribed aperture distribution by optimising the coefficients and parameters of a quite arbitrary series of generic curves.
