Abstract :
The ampere was conceived to suit the current balance rather than vice versa, because the current balance was the most accurate apparatus available at the time. It is found that many physical units do not have fixed absolute values but vary as experimental accuracy and international agreements allow. Definitions of the volt and the ohm are presented which are in accordance with the present data
