AM terrestrial broadcasting-past, present and future

The author gives a brief history of the development of broadcasting, in particular sound broadcasting by amplitude modulated signals (AM). The author then discusses the developments still taking place in AM broadcasting concerned with high power transmitters and associated equipment. Politics and propaganda broadcasting are briefly mentioned as is religious missionary broadcasting. The growth of AM broadcasting and the market for high power AM are also briefly discussed
