Abstract :
A comparison and evaluation of two custom design approaches for digital filters to be used in application-specific circuits is presented. A high-level module compiler has been developed, which is able to generate automatically the layout of a transversal filter, with possible choice of the pipeline rate. The output of this generator has been tested on the example of an oversampling filter, a part of a video decoder which was itself fully designed by hand.
