Abstract :
A modified fibre cavity for obtaining single longitudinal laser diode mode operation in active modelocking is proposed. It has been shown that if a fusion spliced plane is incorporated inside the singlemode fibre cavity, the reflection from it can provide the feedback necessary for coherent photon seeding. 39.2 ps pulses with a spectral width of 0.14 nm have been generated.
