Abstract :
Measurements of the waiting time for the magnetization jump to occur in an isolated single-domain particle as a function of the applied field are reported. The investigations were performed on a single crystal of barium ferrite of about 2.5-μm size. The data are analyzed using the theory of thermally activated processes. It is found that the activation volume is considerably smaller than the volume of the whole particle
