Abstract :
A modelling method is described which has been used to study the harmonic and fundamental problems associated with thyristor- and diode-controlled traction loads. The effect of changing system parameters, such as the number of overhead lines fed from a feeder transformer, is shown. Different bridge configurations are also demonstrated and, in particular, the use of a commutation reactor in an asymmetrical bridge.
