Abstract :
A novel method for measuring group velocity dispersion has been proposed which uses supercontinuum pulses generated in an optical fibre. Group delays over a continuous 1200-1395 nm wavelength range have been measured simultaneously for two optical fibre samples. The method features instantaneous graphical observations of group delay against wavelength characteristics and needs no interpolation formula.
