Abstract :
Alternators with multiple coils per phase, in which each coil consists of 2jN turns (j=0, 1, 2, . . . m, m=number of coils per phase and N=base number of turns), are discussed. This configuration provides a means of regulating the output voltage of the alternator. These binary-wound alternators reduce the harmonic content of the rectifier output. Two controller strategies are suggested. Experimental curves are presented
