Abstract :
Analytic tradeoff equations based on adiabatic assumptions are used to explore feasible design regions for single-anode magnetron injection guns (MIGs). Particle simulations are then used to optimize a single-anode and a double-anode design for a 1-μs, 500-kV, 600-A MIG which is required for a second-harmonic gyroklystron. The advantages and disadvantages of each configuration are critically examined
