Threshold improvement for phase-lock loop systems

This letter presents an ad hoc modification to the well known phase-lock loop system which yields significant improvement in threshold performance. Specifically, a zero-memory nonlinearity has been added to the forward path of the loop. Experimental evidence is presented to demonstrate the actual performance obtained.
