Abstract
The information content of any picture is limited by the resolution of the system which is involved in the image processing. For astronomic observation, the actual resolution is not usually limited by the diffraction limit of the telescope, but rather by viewing effects through the turbulent atmosphere. The interaction of turbulent air with the image-transmission and -detection system results in a decrease of the information content. Although the reduction of information content cannot be compensated for by any device, it is possible, however, to increase the information which is extractable by the human eye-brain system.
