Abstract
The relevance of exergetic analysis in the design of electric power systems is demonstrated. This analysis provides a quantitative measure of the quality of a power supply in terms of its ability to perform work and leads to a more rational use of energy. A general and easy-to-use model, implemented in object oriented programming, is developed for the planning of electric power systems including exergetic considerations. The model presented is applied to a space heating study and to a regional planning case
