Abstract
The condition for maximizing the pattern gain function at an angle θ0 measured from the beam axis is derived for symmetric pencil beams. The half-power beamwidth of the beam and the maximum gain that can be realized at the off-axis position are completely determined by specification of the angle θ0 .
