Abstract :
Self-pumping in a silicon avalanche diode has produced 3% pulsed efficiency at 22.5 GHz, the second harmonic of a `trapped¿ fundamental. An analogue-computer solution of a simplified Read´s equation has shown how the parametric properties of the avalanche process can result in this type of frequency conversion.
