Abstract :
A new family of scintillating glasses has been developed which is based upon Pr3+ oxide in a silicate host. The materials have fast response (30nsec ¿ ¿ ¿ several ¿sec) and good optical transmission. Materials of this kind might find applicability as fiber-optic detectors for high energy physics experiments operating at moderate interaction rates.
