Abstract :
A conventional static Scherbius system has the disadvantages of a low power factor and a rectangular waveform of the recovery current. As the higher-order harmonic current components cause problems in the power system, improving the waveform is important. In the paper, a novel static Scherbius system which improves both the low power factor and the recovery current waveform is proposed. The recovery current is converted into a sinusoidal waveform and the power factor of the recovery power can be adjusted to arbitrary values.
