Abstract :
Shunt-peaked compensation, as a means of broadbanding an integrated bipolar amplifier stage exhibiting a dominant-pole response, is definitively analysed and assessed. Two sets of design equations, one pertaining to dominant-pole cancellation and the other addressing approximately maximally flat magnitude response, are derived. The design-oriented analysis is rendered germane to monolithic circuit realisation by exploiting the inherently inductive nature of the emitter input impedance of a bipolar junction transistor.
