Abstract :
The design process for an electromagnetic device usually begins with a similar previous design. Case-based reasoning is a paradigm to simulate this process. Adapting retrieved design cases requires an understanding of how the parameters of the device behave to accomplish the device´s function. Such knowledge can often be represented by the dimensional model of the device. This paper illustrates how the dimensional model of the device may be used in adaptation of design cases. The case of an actuator is discussed in particular
